I’ve been a freelance writer since the early 1990s, working on a fairly dizzying array of topics, for a fairly dizzying array of outlets.
Under my own byline, I write commentary, personal essays, features, and book reviews for major dailies (Christian Science Monitor, Chicago Tribune) and mid-sized magazines (Paste, Chicago Magazine), considering issues ranging from Middle East peace to the American Presidential race, parenting to really loud music.
I also work for custom publications, PR firms, nonprofits, and individuals with a story to tell (or an axe to grind). I produce features, product reviews, op/eds, letters to the editor, backgrounders, internal reports and fundraising materials, selling ideas or luxury products, as my clients’ needs require.
In the process, I’ve learned a lot and had a lot of fun. Writing is the thing I do best, and I do it pretty well.
